We took over this apartment in a new-build development as a blank shell — no partitions, no floors, no services. That gave us the freedom to shape the layout entirely around the clients’ needs. The result is an open, minimalist interior where concrete screed, natural oak and carefully resolved detailing set the tone. The whole space is composed in shades of grey, with just one clear contrast: the warmth of wood.
The interior is built on concrete screeds that flow from the floors to the walls, maintaining a unified, calm gray tone throughout the space. This serves as a neutral backdrop, allowing the large wooden surfaces of the kitchen and dining table to take center stage. The only warm accent is natural oak – a subtle contrast that adds warmth to the interior without disrupting its austere purity.
The kitchen is the centre of the apartment. The grey island, finished with a brushed aluminium worktop that wraps down the sides, reads as one compact object. Behind it, tall cabinets in textured quarter-cut oak veneer create a natural backdrop and connect materially to the long dining table in oak and black lacquer. The otherwise minimalist composition is intentionally interrupted by a single playful gesture — a light fitting above the table shaped like an inverted polycarbonate flower. Its soft reflections and fractured light add a gentle counterpoint to the otherwise rigorous restraint of the space.
The main bathroom was given the space it deserves. A freestanding cast marble bathtub sits beneath the window, matched by washbasins of the same form placed on the vanity top. Right by the entrance, the shower is defined by dark grey screed and smoked glass, a contrast that is echoed in the floor finish as well. Above the bathtub, pendant lights in thick glass are suspended like organic drops, while a light grey curtain gives the room softness, privacy and an added sense of generosity.
Alongside the main living space, a second, quieter zone was created — with a bedroom, a study and a smaller TV corner. A kind of second living room, only without the need to be on display. A place for work, reading, focus, or simply stepping away from the main rhythm of the apartment. This layer gives the interior greater depth and makes it feel like more than just an open-plan space with a few rooms arranged around it.
